The Bay Area Moving Checklist: 8 Weeks to Move Day

Moving can feel overwhelming, but a good plan makes everything easier. This 8-week checklist is the one our crews at Formosa Mover LLC recommend to every customer.

8 Weeks Before

6 Weeks Before

Start sorting your belongings. Make three piles: keep, donate, and sell. The less you move, the less you pay.

  • Box up items you rarely use
  • Schedule donation pickups
  • Measure large furniture to confirm it fits in the new home

4 Weeks Before

Notify important parties about your move:

  • USPS change of address
  • Utility companies at your current and new home
  • Bank, insurance, doctor, and employer
  • Kids’ schools or daycare

2 Weeks Before

Pack items you will not need before move day. Label every box clearly by room. If packing feels like too much, we offer full packing and unpacking services.

1 Week Before

Confirm your moving date with us. Pack a “first night” box with toiletries, pajamas, phone chargers, and a change of clothes for each person.

Move Day
