How to Pack Fragile Items for a Safe Move
Broken dishes and cracked picture frames are the top complaint from families who pack themselves. After moving over 5,000 Bay Area homes, here is what our crew at Formosa Mover LLC does to protect fragile items.
Use the Right Materials
Do not skimp on supplies. You need:
- Sturdy boxes, never grocery store leftovers
- Packing paper, not newspaper (ink transfers)
- Bubble wrap for glass and electronics
- Strong tape
If you would rather leave it to professionals, we offer full packing services across the Bay Area.
Dishes and Glassware
Wrap each piece individually. Stand plates on edge like records, never flat. Fill all gaps with crumpled paper so nothing moves.
Electronics
Original boxes are best. If you do not have them, wrap each item in bubble wrap and pack in a box with at least two inches of padding on all sides.
Art and Mirrors
Use picture boxes or wrap with bubble wrap and tape. Mark the box “FRAGILE” and “THIS SIDE UP” on all sides.
Pianos
Never try to move a piano yourself. It is dangerous and easy to damage. Our team offers specialized piano moving service with proper piano boards and straps.
